Charcoal is the oldest sketching and drawing material in the world. Its grayish-blue hue glides smoothly over paper, rubs and spreads easily, and can be effortlessly erased and rewritten over repeatedly. The bluish hue has always held a fascination, even among the old masters. Charcoal pencils leave a much blacker line.
